The Commission is an independent statutory body that is established under the Fiji Law Reform Commission Act 1979.
The main purpose of the Commission is to resolve difficulties in the law by conducting systematic development and reform of the law through consultations with the public and relevant stakeholders, comparing our laws with other countries and making proposals to the Attorney General for the modernisation and simplification of the law.
The Commission has not been fully functional since 2006 however, through the Cabinet decision in 2023, approval for the re-establishment of the Commission was given and now the Commission is operating at Level 5 Civic Tower Suva, Fiji.
